Experimental Observation of Temporal Pumping in Electromechanical Waveguides

We experimentally demonstrate temporal pumping of elastic waves in an electromechanical waveguide. An aluminum beam covered by array piezoelectric patches connected to shunt circuits with controllable resistances enables the spatial and control beam's stiffness. The modulation produces non-trivial edge states, while a smooth variation phase drives transfer states from one boundary waveguide other manner. This characteristic behavior for topological pump is here demonstrated first time continuous framework presented herein opens new avenues manipulation transport information through waves, potential technological applications digital delay lines digitally controlled waveguides. Our study also explores higher dimensional physics using as synthetic dimension systems.
